Konami producer Motoi Okamoto has revealed that the company plans to release a "second and third wave" of new Silent Hill games, according to an interview published in issue 1965 of Famitsu (via Game Observer). The first wave included a remake of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall, which was released last month. Silent Hill: Townfall placed players in the role of protagonist Simon Ordell in 1990s Scotland and received generally favorable reviews, including a 9/10 score from IGN France. Okamoto noted that the successful release of the first wave of games was a "great relief," but the company is already looking ahead to future projects. While specific details about the second and third waves are not yet available, Konami is currently studying several potential projects. Okamoto mentioned that convincing his superiors to continue developing more Silent Hill games was difficult, especially after the cancellation of Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills project. He emphasized that as a producer, he cannot be satisfied with only one remake, as he believes releasing a single title might lead people to think development would be canceled again. The Silent Hill 2 remake was developed by Bloober Team, a Polish game studio known for its work on horror games such as The Medium and Layered. Last year, Bloober Team confirmed it was working on a remake of the original Silent Hill, which first released in 1999 for the PlayStation. This upcoming project is expected to bring the classic horror experience to modern platforms while maintaining the psychological themes and atmospheric tension that defined the original series. Okamoto's comments suggest that Silent Hill is entering a new phase of development, with multiple projects in various stages of planning. Fans of the franchise are likely watching closely, hoping for more innovative and faithful reinterpretations of one of the most influential horror series in video game history.
