A Fiat 500 is driving through Paris, carrying something valuable — and it's not the legendary thief Lupin at the wheel. If you've been paying attention, you might have noticed this particular car before: it's the sports car usually found in the courtyard of Merci Paris, a concept store known for its unique approach to retail. For a brief fifteen minutes, the car is on the move, highlighting a special collaboration between Merci and the French fashion brand Gérard Darel. The partnership was celebrated on Monday evening under the glass roof of the Merci store on Boulevard Beaumarchais, with pianist Juliette Armanet performing live. The event also marked the unveiling of a new collection at Konbini Paris, a vibrant pop-up store that becomes especially lively at the start of Paris Fashion Week. The collaboration between Merci and Gérard Darel has a strong family connection. As Merci’s CEO, Arthur Gerbi, explained in an interview with WWD, the Gerbi family founded Gérard Darel, and the brand has been back under family ownership since 2015, led by Arthur’s brother, Laurent Gerbi. This family connection has allowed for a natural synergy between the two brands. For this collaboration, Merci Paris has reimagined one of Gérard Darel’s most iconic pieces — the timeless 24H bag — in a smaller, more playful version. The result is a collection that is cute, lighthearted, and very much in line with current trends — all characteristics that reflect the Merci brand identity. The collection will be available throughout October at Merci stores and features a wide range of items, from keychains and turtlenecks to flare jeans and the reimagined 24H bag. Among the standout pieces are the colorful micro 24H bag (245 euros), the leather tote bag (245 euros), a skirt with a lingerie-effect design (195 euros), and a monogrammed blanket (190 euros). These items aim to capture the essence of Parisian style while offering a modern, accessible take on classic fashion. The collaboration not only highlights the creative spirit of both Merci and Gérard Darel but also celebrates the enduring appeal of Parisian chic.
