WhatsApp is reportedly working on expanding its multi-account feature for iPhone users, potentially allowing a third profile within the same app. This update was discovered in an internal beta version of the app, which is currently being tested by development teams. At present, iPhone users can only manage up to two separate WhatsApp profiles on a single device. However, recent code from a test version, labeled 26.37.10.15, suggests the inclusion of a third account slot, though no official release date has been announced. The change was identified by WABetaInfo, a specialized blog that tracks WhatsApp updates. The beta version is available through TestFlight, Apple’s platform for testing apps before they are publicly released. Screenshots from the beta show an account selector with a third profile, complete with a name, photo, and phone number. The active account is indicated by a green checkmark, and the “Add an account” button remains visible even after two accounts are set up. However, this feature is still in internal development and is not yet available to beta testers. The multi-account feature was first introduced on iPhones in March of this year, allowing users to link two phone numbers to the same app without needing a second phone or WhatsApp Business. Each profile maintains its own chat history, notifications, backup, and settings. The third account would function similarly, with each number having its own security lock, such as a passcode or fingerprint. Adding the third number would involve entering a country code, phone number, and a six-digit verification code sent via SMS or a call, just like the process for the first two accounts. This update aims to offer greater flexibility for users managing multiple phone lines, such as a personal number, a professional number, and a third for freelance work, consulting, or use abroad with an eSIM card. Each account remains tied to its own number, and data is kept separate for each profile. However, Meta, which owns WhatsApp, has not provided a timeline for this feature, and it has not yet entered the public beta testing phase. Additionally, the code analysis suggests that the number of accounts could be expanded beyond three in the future.
