Nintendo Switch 2 title delayed

The exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 title The Duskbloods, developed by FromSoftware, has been delayed from its previously planned 2026 release to 2027. The delay was announced by FromSoftware on October 29, 2025, via the game's official X page.

Development nearing completion

The studio stated that the development of The Duskbloods is nearing completion but that a closed network test held from August 21 to 24 highlighted elements requiring refinement. The studio emphasized that the test revealed strong interest in the game's core concepts, particularly combat, strategic depth, and player expression.

Contradiction with parent company’s schedule

The delay contradicts the schedule previously maintained by FromSoftware's parent company, Kadokawa, which had indicated in its February 2025 financial results that The Duskbloods and the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition were both scheduled for 2026. According to one report, the delay was not unexpected given the rarity of Nintendo's statements about the game.

Timing challenges and upcoming releases

With the year progressing, it became difficult to bet on a release before December 31, especially with the upcoming November 5 release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. FromSoftware stated that the game's foundations are solid but that further refinement is needed to meet its ambitious goals.

Ambitious multiplayer goals

The studio aims to translate the formula of Dark Souls into a multiplayer-oriented experience in a PvPvE format, with matches potentially bringing together up to eight players. This format allows for both player versus player and player versus environment interactions, adding complexity to the gameplay.
