Huttopia, a company known for its nature-focused camping sites in France, Europe, and North America, is expanding its presence to Argentina with the opening of its first site, Huttopia Mar Azul. The site is scheduled to open on December 4, 2026, in time for Argentina’s summer season. Situated on the Atlantic coast, Huttopia Mar Azul will be located in a large pine forest covering 55 hectares, with 20 hectares designated for development. The site is near the Faro Querandí natural reserve, a protected area known for its dunes, coastal forest, and unspoiled coastline. The camping site will offer 240 bare plots for tents and 20 equipped accommodations made of canvas and wood, along with a pool and a central area featuring a bar and restaurant. It will be about four hours from Buenos Aires. In the long term, Huttopia Mar Azul aims to welcome around 60,000 overnight visitors annually. The site will be open from December to April each year and is expected to create between 15 and 25 direct jobs and more than 70 indirect jobs. This new site marks the beginning of Huttopia’s plans for Argentina, with the company aiming to open 5 to 6 additional sites in the country by 2030. Huttopia has been collaborating with local authorities, tourism experts, and managers of Argentine national parks for over 10 years to develop camping options that align with the country’s unique landscape and environmental challenges. The company has proposed a project that includes four potential sites: Iguazú, famous for its massive waterfalls; Iberá, a vast wetland area; Los Glaciares, home to the Perito Moreno glacier; and Los Alerces, known for its ancient trees. This initiative, called an "Iniciativa privada" (Spontaneous interest manifestation), has recently been recognized as of general interest by Huttopia. In addition, Huttopia is working with the ACA (Automóvil Club Argentino), a long-standing organization involved in mobility and tourism in Argentina, to form a partnership that would help convert existing ACA campgrounds into new Huttopia sites. The first of these sites is expected to be announced soon. According to Huttopia, the creation or transformation of a campground in Argentina requires an investment of between 3 and 5 million euros.
