Disney announces new Christmas film

Disney has announced the release of its traditional Christmas animated film, Billie at the Crossroads of Worlds, set for theatrical release on November 25. This will be the 65th feature film from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Film's creative team

The film is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn, who previously worked on Raya and the Last Dragon and Wish: Asha and the Star, and Jason Hand, co-director of Moana 2. Josie Trinidad, who has previously worked on Ralph Breaks the Internet and Zootopia, serves as co-director. The production is overseen by Roy Conli (Tangled, The New Heroes) and Yvett Merino (Moana 2, Zootopia 2).

Plot summary

The story follows Billie, a teenager who accidentally discovers magical powers she was previously unaware of. This revelation propels her into Hexe, a kingdom inhabited by witches, where she meets Madame Quill, an enchanted quill, and Elias Quire, a wonderful journal. As she travels, she uncovers family mysteries that could shake the magical world.

French voice cast announced

Disney has unveiled the French voices for its Christmas film, with the casting including some surprises, such as Jodie Foster, Chloé Jouannet, and Jérémy Ferrari. Jodie Foster provides her voice to Queen Celeste in both the original and French versions of the film. This is a notable particularity, as Adèle Exarchopoulos previously provided the voice of Ennui in both the French and original versions of Vice-Versa 2.

Jodie Foster's role and return to Disney

In Billie at the Crossroads of Worlds, Jodie Foster portrays a formidable figure who seeks to maintain her power over Hexe, the magical kingdom of witches. This return to Disney also has a special flavor for the actress, who made her screen debut in Disney productions in the 1970s. More than fifty years after her debut, she returns to the studio, this time behind the microphone, to provide her voice to Queen Celeste.

French dubbing details

Chloé Jouannet and Jérémy Ferrari join the adventure. The actress and director Chloé Jouannet will provide the voice of Billie, the film's heroine, who is dubbed in the original version by Hailee Steinfeld. Impulsive and non-conformist, the teenager's life will change when she discovers that she has magical powers. Propelled into an unknown universe, she must also deal with her mother, Alice (dubbed in the original version by Rashida Jones), a woman much more cautious than she.

French release and special event

On the other hand, Jérémy Ferrari dubs Beef Roger Crummchuk, a strange green cat with three eyes, dubbed in the original version by Walton Goggins. With his unusual appearance and fantastical look, he will be a precious companion for Billie. His look is actually reminiscent of Yoda, the famous character from Star Wars.

French cinema release and pre-show

Billie at the Crossroads of Worlds will be released in cinemas in France on November 25, 2026. For Parisian viewers, the film will be preceded by the show La féérie des eaux during screenings at the Grand Rex between November 25 and January 3.
