Exclusive Dune: Part Three photos released

The magazine Empire has published exclusive photographs of Dune: Part Three, giving fans a first glimpse of the film’s visuals before its release. These images provide a look at the production’s aesthetic and set design, which reflect the evolving story and characters in the third installment of the series.

Cast returns for new chapter

Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Anya Taylor-Joy return as Paul Atréides, Chani, and Alia, respectively, continuing their roles from the previous films. Director Denis Villeneuve has stated that the third film will be significantly different from its predecessors, with the world and characters having evolved over the seventeen years since the events of Dune: Part Two.

Evolution of characters and setting

Villeneuve described in Empire that the characters have undergone deep changes, noting that "the world has completely changed" and their "psyche, their perception of reality have completely changed." He emphasized that while the film will maintain the core essence of the Dune saga, it will offer a distinct experience with a different rhythm and tone.

Themes of paranoia and isolation

The director described Dune: Part Three as a "Dune film" that is "very different," marked by themes of paranoia and isolation. These themes are reflected in the visuals of Paul Atréides, whose character is said to be descending into darkness rather than being purely redemptive, according to Chalamet.

New cast members join the film

The film will also feature new cast members including Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa, Robert Pattinson, Josh Brolin, and Léa Seydoux. Their roles are expected to add new layers to the story and expand the narrative of the Dune universe.

Release date and competition

Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release in French theaters on December 16, 2026, and will face competition from Avengers: Doomsday, which is also set for the same date. Fans will have to wait until then to see the conclusion of Villeneuve's science fiction trilogy, which is adapted from Frank Herbert's "Messiah of Dune."

Re-release of previous films

For those eager to revisit the saga, Dune and Dune: Part Two will both be re-released in theaters on November 11, offering fans a chance to experience the first two films again before the final installment arrives.
