France Travail reports daily recruitments

Thibaut Guilluy, director general of France Travail, says his organization contributes to 6,000 recruitments per day through its services, while 200,000 to 300,000 positions remain unfilled in the country. These figures come from an interview with La Tribune Dimanche published on October 25, 2026.

France Travail Pro's role

France Travail Pro, a service of the organization, is credited with 6,000 daily recruitments. However, Guilluy clarifies that this number does not reflect all national hiring activity, but only the results of this specific service.

New communication campaign

France Travail is launching a public awareness campaign on October 28 to promote France Travail Pro, especially among small businesses. The campaign aims to highlight the service's success in filling 92 percent of job offers, with the hiring process now taking 22 days on average, down from 35.

Expanding business relations

The organization has over 6,000 advisors working with businesses. Contacts with employers have grown from 100,000 in 2023 to 400,000 in 2025, with a goal of 500,000 in 2026. For very small businesses, France Travail has introduced a voice command system for submitting job offers, set to be fully implemented by mid-2027.

Simplifying hiring for small businesses

This initiative targets business managers without dedicated human resources teams. France Travail also uses partnerships with industry sectors and digital tools to link job seekers with available positions. Guilluy mentions collaborations with thirty sectors and thirty industry branches, though the effectiveness of these partnerships is not yet clear.

Employers expect fewer recruitments

According to the 2026 France Travail Needs in Labor Survey, employers anticipate about 2.3 million recruitment projects in 2026, a 6.5 percent drop from 2025. Of these, 43.8 percent are considered difficult to fill, a decrease of 6.3 points from the previous year.

Distinguishing labor challenges

It is important to note that the percentage of difficult recruitment projects differs from the number of businesses facing difficulties or the number of vacant positions. These metrics measure different groups and time periods, showing a relative easing of hiring challenges compared to earlier years.

Construction sector struggles

Construction remains a key focus for France Travail. Guilluy reports that 66 percent of companies in the sector face hiring difficulties, with over 30 percent of indefinite-term contracts lasting less than a year. This reflects both challenges in finding candidates and retaining workers.

Balancing employer and job seeker needs

For employers, the main challenge is finding a suitable candidate within a timeframe that matches their operational needs. For job seekers, it involves accessing job offers, training, and career mobility. The success of France Travail Pro will depend on how well it addresses these issues beyond just the volume of contacts and job postings.

Upcoming milestones for evaluation

The October 28 campaign and the planned expansion of the voice submission system by 2027 will provide clear benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of France Travail's services for businesses.
