Van Gogh exhibition announced

The Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo will display nearly 100 paintings by Vincent Van Gogh from September 16, 2026, to January 3, 2027. This event marks a significant moment for art lovers and scholars interested in Van Gogh’s work.

Museum’s own collection featured

The museum, which owns a significant collection of Van Gogh's works, will take advantage of a rare opportunity to showcase its holdings. This exhibition will highlight pieces that have been part of the museum’s permanent collection for years.

Thematic rather than chronological display

Rather than presenting the works in chronological order, the exhibition will adopt a thematic approach, allowing visitors to experience the evolution of Van Gogh's style through carefully curated groupings. This method is designed to emphasize artistic development over time.

Works from different life stages shown

This approach will feature works from different periods of the artist's life, including pieces from his youth and later years, with particular emphasis on the atmospheric qualities of his landscapes. The selection aims to highlight Van Gogh’s changing techniques and themes.

Setting enhances the experience

The exhibition will take place in a setting enhanced by the museum's location within an exceptional forest, with the buildings themselves contributing to the contemplative atmosphere. The natural surroundings are expected to complement the mood and themes of Van Gogh’s paintings.
