At 22 years old, Adéla, a singer from Slovakia, has emerged as a new face in international pop music. She first gained attention by participating in The Debut: Dream Academy, a reality show produced by HYBE and Geffen Records, the same companies behind the K-pop girl group KATSEYE. Though she was eliminated from the competition, Adéla continued her career as a solo artist. After releasing several singles, she launched her first full-length album, PRIMA, on September 4. This album includes "Ain't In LA," her first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a significant milestone in her career. To promote her new album, Adéla chose to pay tribute to Nicole Kidman, the renowned Australian actress, with a song titled "Nicole Kidman." The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis, known for her work with artists like Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish. In the video, Adéla reimagines some of Kidman’s most iconic film roles, blending elements from various movies into a cohesive visual narrative. The music video features scenes inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, including scenes with lingerie and a mask, and a segment inspired by Babygirl, a 2022 film starring Kidman. It also revisits the intimate and melancholic world of Birth, a 2004 film in which Kidman starred, and includes a scene inspired by Moulin Rouge!, featuring a famous swing. Additionally, the video nods to the 2003 film Dogville and includes a keychain styled like those found on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The video also recreates an iconic 2021 AMC Theatres advertisement in which Kidman celebrates the joy of going to the cinema. The song "Nicole Kidman" has performed well on streaming platforms, reaching the 12th position on Spotify’s global chart with over 2.7 million plays. The track and its accompanying video have drawn attention not only for their artistic ambition but also for their clever homage to a celebrated actress and her filmography.
