Solveo Energies has begun the second phase of a solar energy project at the industrial site of the agricultural cooperative Arterris in Castelnaudary, in the Aude department of southern France. This expansion increases the total installed solar power to 5.4 MWc. The first phase of the project, which was completed in the spring of 2025, had a capacity of 1.9 MWc. On September 17, representatives from Arterris, Solveo Energies, and the Regional Energy and Climate Agency (AREC) Occitanie officially inaugurated the second phase of the multi-solution solar initiative. The first phase of the project focused on solarizing the western part of Arterris’s industrial site. It included various types of photovoltaic installations such as three parking canopies, one high-rise storage canopy, two rooftop installations, and a mini-park. This phase was designed for self-consumption, with approximately 2,300 MWh of solar electricity generated annually being used to meet about 20% of the site’s energy needs. The remaining 170 MWh per year is redirected to the Conserverie du Languedoc, a nearby subsidiary of Arterris, through a shared self-consumption system. The second phase, completed in the summer of 2026, focuses on injecting green electricity into the public power grid. It covers the eastern half of Arterris's industrial site and makes use of every available square meter. This phase was selected through a tender process by the French electricity regulator, the CRE, in July 2024, and is based on a co-investment model involving Arterris, the AREC Occitanie, and Solveo Energies, who are all co-owners of the project. The second phase is noted for its technical optimization. It includes 16,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels installed on the roofs of the "seeds" and "semi-finished products" buildings. Additionally, two high-rise canopies, each 230 meters long, were constructed over the grain bins. With a total power output of 3.5 MWc, this phase produces enough electricity to power approximately 910 households annually.
