BenQ launches new Apple-focused subsidiary

BenQ has introduced Infty Lab, a new subsidiary focused on developing products for Apple devices. The company is now offering a range of stands and VESA mounts designed specifically for Apple monitors and computers.

New mounts for Apple monitors

The first product from Infty Lab is the AM01 stand for Apple's Studio Display. This stand requires a VESA-compatible model, which Apple sells without a built-in stand. For users with standard models, BenQ offers a workaround using a metal VESA mount.

Features of the AM01 stand

The AM01 stand includes a cable pass-through and allows for significant movement of the Studio Display. Users can tilt the screen between -20° and +45°, switch to portrait mode, and move the panel between -90° and +90°. The stand is compatible with VESA 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 standards and supports screens up to 6.4 kg in weight.

Additional stand for iMac models

Infty Lab also offers the AM002 stand, designed for Apple iMacs from the M1 to M6 models. This stand is tailored for the 24-inch screen of the iMac, which is smaller than the Studio Display. Both the AM01 and AM002 stands are priced at 260 euros.

Apple's restrictive stand design

Since the Studio Display and iMac M1, Apple has made the stand non-removable. If a user wants a VESA mount, they must choose it at the time of purchase. Previously, users could buy a VESA mount separately, but this is no longer an option.

Adapter for existing stands

For users who already have a model with a built-in stand, Infty Lab offers the SCS01F adapter for 70 euros. This adapter allows the use of a VESA mount but leaves the original stand in place, which can be visually unappealing. The adapter works with the standard stand of the Studio Display and iMac but not with Apple's height-adjustable stand.

Limitations of the adapter

If a user has the optional height-adjustable stand from Apple, the SCS01F adapter cannot be used. In such cases, users would need to contact Apple directly to switch to a VESA mount through the warranty service. Additionally, the adapter does not support the 360° rotation feature if there is no wall behind the screen.
