New Dyson vacuum cleaner launched

The Dyson V16 Piston Animal is a new high-end vacuum cleaner model introduced by Dyson in September 2025. It includes three new features: a built-in compactor for the dust bin, a system that allows users to change attachments without bending down, and a conical brush roll designed to handle tangled hair.

Pricing and discounts

The vacuum was initially priced at 849 euros but is now available at a 200 euro discount for the pre-Black Friday sale, bringing the price down to 649 euros. Another report shows that the Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine model is available for 699 euros at Boulanger.com and Dyson, which is about a 27% reduction from its usual price.

Key features of the V16 Piston Animal

The V16 Piston Animal includes a compactor that can hold up to 30 days of dust, a conical brush roll that untangles long hair, and a large battery life. It has a 1.35 liter bin and a Clean Compaktor compactor that compresses dust as it collects it. The vacuum is powered by a 900 W Hyperdymium motor that spins at 140,000 revolutions per minute, a record for Dyson. It provides 315 W of air and has three cleaning modes: Eco, Auto, and Boost.

Performance on different surfaces

After being used on parquet, tile, and carpet for several weeks, the V16 Piston Animal's suction power is reported to be weaker than previous models. However, its green laser, which highlights invisible dust, works well and is more powerful than the Gen 5 model. The double cone brush effectively untangles long hair, but the vacuum struggles to clean along skirting boards and leaves a dead zone in the center.

New features in the Submarine model

The Dyson V16 Piston Animal Submarine model adds floor washing capabilities to Dyson's flagship vacuum cleaner. It has increased suction power to 280 AW and includes the Submarine wet brush for versatility. However, it still has some design issues from earlier models, such as difficult maintenance and a lack of waterproofing on the dirty water tank.

Ergonomics and design

The V16 Piston Animal has a slightly textured handle for a secure grip, even with sweaty hands, and the on/off button is conveniently placed under the thumb. Despite its large size, the vacuum’s design focuses on user comfort. A new system allows users to change attachments without bending, reducing physical strain. However, the accessories that come with this model are not compatible with older Dyson models.

Battery life and improvements

Dyson has met its battery life claims, with the vacuum lasting nearly 70 minutes in Eco mode, which is sufficient for cleaning a medium-sized home multiple times. In Boost mode, it lasts 16 to 17 minutes of maximum suction. The Submarine model improves on earlier designs by removing the trigger and using a power button instead, along with better humidity control. However, its cleaning ergonomics still lag behind those of specialized cleaning devices.

Price comparison and alternatives

The reported price decrease is based on comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices from all merchants over the past month. Some stores with unclear VAT policies are excluded from the calculation. An alternative model, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute, is slightly less durable than its predecessor but still recommended. It is lighter and has suction performance that is nearly comparable to the V16 Piston Animal.
