New senior housing project launched

A new housing project designed for seniors was inaugurated on Friday, October 9, at 3, Place Mirabeau in Martigues. The initiative provides six rental apartments with moderate costs and includes shared spaces for community activities.

Partners and funding details

The project, costing 966,000 euros, was developed by Soliha Provence in collaboration with the Madabé association and the City of Martigues. It is partially funded by public and private partners, with 799,000 euros in subsidies and the rest covered by a loan.

Apartment specifications and affordability

The six apartments are categorized as T1 units, ranging in size from 17 to 27 square meters. Rents, including additional charges, range from 258 to 368 euros per month. The project is supported by the aided rental loan integration (PLAI) program, which assists low-income households.

Energy efficiency and design improvements

The building’s energy rating was upgraded from E to B through renovations like thermal insulation, improved windows, and updated heating systems. Some original features, such as railings and wooden shutters, were preserved or reused to maintain historical character.

Support for community living

The project includes an elevator, accessible features like support bars, and a life animator who helps residents connect with each other and local organizations. The Madabé association supports the shared living model, promoting social engagement among seniors.

Long-term collaboration and goals

This initiative is part of a 40-year partnership between Soliha Provence and Martigues. Since 2005, the organization has created about 90 housing units in the city. The project also addresses broader issues like aging populations, housing affordability, and the need to renovate older buildings.
