Helena Noguerra, a Belgian actress and singer, has been called to testify before the judiciary to clarify her accusations against Patrick Bruel, a well-known French singer and actor, concerning his alleged involvement in violence against women. Investigators requested her to provide more details about a letter she sent to the prosecutors' office in Corsica. According to reports from RTL and Paris Match, Noguerra appeared this summer before the police investigating complaints filed against Bruel. She reportedly described events that allegedly took place in the early 2000s, a time period in which legal action for such crimes is no longer possible due to the statute of limitations. As a result, she did not file a formal complaint against Bruel. However, the investigators wanted to hear her testimony to potentially support the account of a sexual assault reported by a masseuse who sued Bruel in 2019. Noguerra did not comment directly to RTL, but Paris Match published statements from the sister of the singer Lio, clarifying that Noguerra had sent a letter to the prosecutors in Corsica on March 22, 2022. The police wanted to verify the details she included in this letter. In her letter, Noguerra stated, “With his hands, he lifted my skirt.” She explained that she sent the letter to support the women who had accused Bruel, as she had also been a victim of him. She wanted the prosecutors to know that the account of the woman from Corsica matched her own experience. Noguerra described that the plaintiff’s account was similar to what she claims she experienced, including how Bruel allegedly took her wrists and made her place her hands on his genitals. She added, “With his hands, he lifted my skirt.” Patrick Bruel is currently under formal investigation in four cases of rape and attempted rape. He has also been designated as an assisted witness in four other cases. Bruel, known for his role in the film Place des Grands Hommes, has denied the accusations against him. Recently, he canceled his tour, stating that it had become “the embodiment of a debate that exceeds him,” and he wants to provide “calm.” The legal proceedings have drawn significant public attention, highlighting the broader conversation around allegations of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry.
