France secures energy supplies from Gulf nations

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France has secured 200,000 tons of diesel per month from Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the equivalent of 2 terawatt-hours (TWh) per month of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar during the winter period. These agreements aim to ensure energy security and stability, especially during a time of global uncertainty.

Macron highlights the importance of energy partnerships

Macron expressed satisfaction with these arrangements during a press conference in Doha, emphasizing the role of international partnerships in maintaining energy stability. He noted that while these agreements are promising, the situation remains unpredictable, and vigilance is necessary as tensions in the region could still shift.

France releases strategic fuel reserves

As part of a broader G7 agreement, France has decided to release strategic diesel reserves to help reduce fuel prices at the pump. This move is part of an international effort to ease energy costs, with France holding the G7 presidency this year.

Fuel price reductions expected in November

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated that diesel prices would decrease for consumers starting November 1 due to the release of strategic reserves. The plan involves withdrawing up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from reserves over the next four months, as part of a coordinated global response to energy market pressures.
