The guitar George Michael played in the 1987 music video for his hit song "Faith" is set to be auctioned for up to £100,000. The song was the title track of his debut solo album, which became a global success with over 25 million copies sold. In the video, George Michael, then a former member of the pop duo Wham!, wore a leather jacket and aviator sunglasses while playing the guitar. This look was part of his effort to shift from his earlier image and present a more mature, edgy persona. The guitar will be sold by auction house Sworders on 29 October as part of a larger collection of memorabilia from George Michael's personal assistant, Siobhan Bailey, who passed away in 2014. The collection includes various items from George Michael’s career, such as itineraries from Wham! and his solo tours, including a 1985 visit to China. These documents are expected to sell for between £300 and £600. Other notable items include a gold disc commemorating 500,000 UK sales of his song "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," which is estimated to sell for at least £200. The entire collection is expected to bring in over £200,000. Guy Schooling, chairman of Sworders, called the "Faith" guitar the "jewel in the crown" of the collection. He noted that the auction offers fans the chance to own not only historic music artifacts but also objects that reflect the spirit and ambition of one of pop music’s most beloved artists. Earlier this year, the leather jacket George Michael wore in the "Faith" video sold for £176,400 at an auction hosted by Propstore, a Hertfordshire-based memorabilia dealer. Separately, Propstore will auction the Ray-Ban sunglasses George Michael wore during the 1988 "Faith" Tour. The two-day auction begins on 1 October, and the sunglasses are expected to fetch at least £15,000. These items continue to draw significant interest from collectors and fans eager to own a piece of music history.
