Customers in France can save up to 6.55 euros when filling a full 50-liter tank of SP95-E10 gasoline at TotalEnergies stations, where prices are temporarily capped at 1.99 euros per liter. For diesel, the cap is set at 2.25 euros per liter, offering a savings of 2.05 euros per tank. These price caps have drawn a significant number of drivers, creating higher demand and putting pressure on the company’s supply chain. According to Carbu.com, the average price of diesel nationwide has risen to 2.291 euros per liter, a 3.20% increase from the previous week. Similarly, the average price for SP95-E10 reached 2.121 euros per liter, a 2.80% increase. These price differences between TotalEnergies and the market average have made the company's stations particularly attractive to cost-conscious drivers. The surge in demand has led to fuel shortages at some stations. As of September 6, 17% of TotalEnergies stations in Île-de-France—home to about 300 of the company’s 1,000 stations—reported partial fuel shortages. Other regions, including Centre-Val de Loire, Pays de la Loire, and Brittany, also experienced higher-than-average shortages. However, nationally, only 8% to 10% of stations face shortages on at least one fuel type, with the majority still fully stocked. TotalEnergies has previously mobilized its teams to address supply issues, as seen in a similar situation in early August. To help drivers avoid long waits or empty pumps, the company provides real-time fuel availability updates through its website and mobile app. These updates are refreshed approximately every 30 minutes, though there may be a slight delay between when a shortage occurs and when it is recorded. Motorists are encouraged to check these resources before heading to a station.
