Handwriting reveals personality traits

The way people write can offer insights into their personality through details such as the size of their letters, the shape of their writing, and the slant of their script. This practice, known as graphology, is used to analyze handwriting and understand a person's character, according to the French association of graphology.

Letter size and personality

The size of the letters in handwriting is one element analyzed in graphology. Large letters are generally linked with honesty, generosity, and kindness. Medium-sized letters are associated with balanced individuals who show common sense, while small letters are connected to serious, focused people who may struggle with self-expression. Very small letters may suggest a person who is resentful, meticulous, and sometimes negative.

Writing shape and personality

The shape of the handwriting is another factor in graphology. Pointed writing is often seen as a sign of intelligence and a strong character. Round writing is associated with generous and affectionate individuals. Carefully written words and precise strokes may indicate someone who is detail-oriented but less spontaneous. Extended writing, where letters are stretched, is considered a sign of self-confidence and assertiveness.

Writing slant and personality

The slant of the writing also provides information about a person’s character. A slight rightward slant may indicate sensitivity. Straight, upright writing is often linked with a strict and serious personality. A leftward slant is associated with individuals who may not follow traditional rules and prefer to think independently, not conforming to the norm.
