Girl Scouts of the USA has announced that two new cookie varieties will be available for sale starting in January. Among them is Patch Pals, a blueberry muffin-flavored cookie designed specifically for dogs. This new treat was developed in partnership with Bark, a New York-based company that sells dog treats and toys. Patch Pals will be sold exclusively online, and the proceeds from the sale will support the Girl Scout program. In addition to Patch Pals, the organization is introducing Sparkables, its first allergy-friendly cookie. Sparkables is a crunchy oatmeal cookie that includes chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles. It was developed in collaboration with Partake Foods, a company based in New Jersey that specializes in creating treats for people with food allergies. Sparkables are produced in a facility that avoids nine major allergens, including peanuts, dairy, and wheat. Like Patch Pals, Sparkables will only be available for purchase online. The introduction of these new cookies was inspired by Girl Scouts who wanted to make the cookie-selling program more inclusive for both people and pets. Girl Scouts of the USA has been selling cookies as a way for troops to raise funds since 1917. Today, the organization sells approximately 200 million cookies each year. While local sales dates can vary, the cookie season typically runs from January to April. Patch Pals and Sparkables will be sold alongside the organization’s traditional flavors, including Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs. This expansion reflects the Girl Scouts’ ongoing efforts to adapt to the changing needs of their members while maintaining the tradition of cookie sales as a key fundraising activity.
