Girl group Katseye recently performed their first full concert in the UK, despite the absence of two members, Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza, who are currently on health-related hiatuses. The concert took place at London’s O2 Arena and was met with enthusiastic reactions from the audience. Before the show began, the band’s music videos were displayed on the venue’s large screens, setting the tone for the event. The remaining members—Yoonchae Jeong, Megan Skiendiel, Lara Raj, and Daniela Avanzini—performed a series of energetic pop songs and dance routines, filling the stage with vibrant energy. Yoonchae engaged the crowd by asking if they were happy to see the band, while Megan and Lara praised the audience for being the loudest they had ever seen. This concert was part of Katseye’s Wildworld tour and marked only the second date of the tour. Fans had already familiarized themselves with the setlist through social media, and there was visible relief when Daniela Avanzini successfully completed a complex dance lift during the performance of Gabriella. The band was formed in 2023 as part of the online reality competition The Debut: Dream Academy, a collaboration between South Korea’s Hybe and the US-based Geffen Records. Out of 120,000 applicants, only six were selected to form the group. The band’s breakout year came in 2025 with the single Gnarly and its follow-up, Gabriella, which highlighted Daniela’s Cuban-Venezuelan heritage. The concert audience was predominantly young, with many fans dressed in styles inspired by the band members. Some wore bindis influenced by Lara’s aesthetic, while others came dressed as courgettes in reference to the song Eat zucchini. Parents were also present, enjoying the performance alongside their children. Spice Girl Melanie C, a known fan of the group, hosted a Q&A with the band during their first UK trip in October. She praised their music, work ethic, and appearance, acknowledging they had faced some public drama but had worked hard to overcome it. Manon Bannerman announced in February that she was taking a hiatus to focus on her health and wellbeing, citing experiences of racism and death threats. She later removed references to the band from her Instagram profile. Sophia Laforteza announced in April that she was also taking a break to protect her mental health. Her mother assured fans the absence was temporary and that the band’s management respected the need for rest. During the concert, Katseye honored Sophia’s contributions by using her pre-recorded vocals on songs like Mean Girls and Pinky Up, while Manon’s lyrics were performed by the remaining members. The band faced some criticism for miming during a previous show in Dublin, but during the London concert, their microphones were live, with a backing track supporting their vocals at key moments.
