Beau Greaves has made history in the world of darts by becoming the first woman to win a match on the European Tour. At just 22 years old, Greaves defeated Daryl Gurney 6-4 in the Czech Open. This victory is a significant milestone, as it marks the first time a woman has won a match on the European Tour, which has existed for 15 years. Gurney had previously bested Greaves in a deciding set during their first-round match at the PDC World Championship in December. In Prague, Gurney took an early 3-1 lead, but Greaves responded with three consecutive legs, each ending with impressive dart finishes—14, 13, and 11 darts respectively—to take a 4-3 lead. Although Gurney managed to level the score at 4-4, Greaves ultimately secured the victory. Greaves will now face world number two Luke Humphries in the second round of the tournament on Saturday. After her historic win, she expressed her emotions, saying, "It feels amazing," and added, "It's just so nice to win a game. I was so nervous at the start, I don't know why. It took me so long to get settled, but luckily I did enough to win the game." She praised the crowd, stating, "It means loads to me, the crowd's fantastic. It's such a tight stage and you feel so much from the crowd. I'm really enjoying it and loving the experience." This victory adds to a list of firsts for Greaves, who is already making waves in the darts world. She is the first woman to win a PDC ranking title, having defeated Michael Smith in April. Additionally, she became the first woman to achieve a nine-dart finish on the PDC ProTour, which she accomplished in a win against Mensur Suljovic in February. Greaves also won the Women's World Matchplay for the third time, beating Fallon Sherrock in July. Facing Luke Humphries in the next round, Greaves acknowledged the challenge ahead. She said, "I've played Luke on the big stage before, so I know what to expect. He's world class, so I'm going to have to play a lot better than I did tonight." Reflecting on the opportunity, she added, "What more do you want than on a Euro Tour to play one of the best players in the world? I'll look forward to it and I'll be ready."
