New maintenance center opened

A new maintenance center for Fluo trains was officially opened on October 21 in Montigny-lès-Metz. The event was attended by Franck Leroy, president of the Grand Est Region, Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg’s minister of Mobility and Public Works, and Jean Castex, CEO of the SNCF group.

Location and investment

The facility is located on nearly 12 hectares of land near Metz station, on a former railway wasteland. The project represents an investment of 124 million euros by the Grand Est Region, with 10 million euros specifically allocated for the railway connection.

Luxembourg’s financial support

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg contributed 50 million euros to the project, co-financing it as part of a regional collaboration. This support highlights the importance of cross-border infrastructure development in the region.

Future of the facility

The center is expected to play a key role in maintaining the Fluo train network, ensuring reliable service for passengers. The facility’s modern design and location are intended to improve efficiency and reduce delays in the regional rail system.
