This week, while the spotlight was on the newly launched Apple Watch Series 12, other wearable technology devices are also offering tempting discounts that could catch the attention of consumers. As we move closer to peak shopping season, which will culminate in Black Friday, major brands like Samsung, Garmin, and Huawei are expected to offer significant price reductions on their smartwatches. Currently, Huawei is offering a notable discount on its Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro. Priced at £249.99, it's now available for £199 on Amazon in black, with orange and white models also available, though they come with smaller discounts. I personally tested this watch during a run through the streets of Paris, comparing its performance to the high-end Garmin Fenix 8 Pro, which typically costs around £1,000. The Fenix 8 Pro was Garmin’s top offering at the time, featuring the advanced Elevate V5 heart rate sensor. When comparing the two, the average heart rate measurements were nearly identical, differing by just 1 beat per minute. The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is not only accurate but also stylish and practical for runners. Its titanium casing feels premium and looks great on the wrist. It includes virtual pacers with dynamic animations that help maintain a steady pace during training, making it an excellent choice for those preparing for spring races after a winter training period. I awarded it 4.5 out of 5 stars in my review, considering it a great value for the price. Now, with its reduced cost, it's an easy recommendation for those looking for a reliable smartwatch. One thing to note is that the Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro can be easily mistaken for an Apple Watch at first glance. If you're considering a Series 12 but are deterred by the high launch prices, this model could be a more affordable alternative to the Apple Watch SE 3. However, it has some limitations, such as not supporting third-party apps like Spotify and WhatsApp as seamlessly as other smartwatches. Users will need to manually install these apps via Huawei’s AppGallery, which may be less convenient for some.
