Griezmann content in MLS role

Antoine Griezmann, 35, has expressed his satisfaction with his current role at Orlando City in Major League Soccer, where he has become a beloved figure among fans. The former Atletico Madrid player has thrived in MLS and has shared his happiness with American media outlets.

Griezmann avoids French media

However, Griezmann has spoken less frequently to the media in his home country, France. This was confirmed when the television program Téléfoot attempted to interview him after a training session. Griezmann briefly mentioned his fulfillment in the United States before stating he did not want to talk to anyone, saying, "Sorry, but I don't want to talk, I don't want to talk to anyone," with an embarrassed smile. He did not justify his silence.

Griezmann retires from international play

Griezmann retired from international football in September 2024, following a Euros campaign marked by a change in his status. The player, who had 137 caps, was no longer an undisputed starter under coach Didier Deschamps. His demotion may have upset him, particularly after Kylian Mbappé was awarded the captaincy in 2023, despite Griezmann's experience and role making him a legitimate candidate.

No tribute for Griezmann's retirement

The French Football Federation (FFF) did not organize a tribute for Griezmann after his retirement, and no date has been set for a new event. Griezmann had been honored by Atletico Madrid before his departure this summer. It is clear that Griezmann feels some resentment but prefers to avoid expressing it publicly for now.
