The long-held belief that Mac computers are immune to malware has been challenged this summer, when Microsoft described a method that bypasses certain security features in macOS. In response, Intego, a company specializing in Mac security, launched Intego ONE Complete in April 2026. The security suite, which includes antivirus, firewall, cleaning tools, and a virtual private network (VPN), has now expanded to include an iPhone app. The two-year plan for Intego ONE Complete has been reduced by 35 percent, offering coverage for both a Mac and an iPhone for 101.39 euros including tax, compared to the original price of 155.99 euros. The cost is approximately 4.22 euros per month after tax. According to AV-Test, an independent testing institute, Intego ONE Complete achieved perfect detection of 405 recent macOS malware samples in March 2026, without any false positives, and scored highest in protection, performance, and ease of use. The iPhone app includes a built-in VPN, a Wi-Fi diagnostic that runs in about ten seconds, and a review of iOS security settings, all without requiring a separate subscription. Microsoft's example of an attack involved a fake download page, a counterfeit "verified publisher" badge, and a command to paste into the Terminal, which bypassed macOS's quarantine and notarization features to install Atomic Stealer, a piece of malware that extracts passwords and cryptocurrency data. Apple has since added a warning in macOS 26.4 against pasting suspicious commands from web pages. While Intego ONE Complete includes real-time antivirus protection for macOS, it does not function as an antivirus on the iPhone, as iOS does not allow such apps. Instead, it focuses on securing Wi-Fi connections, checking iOS security settings, and ensuring updates are current. The package is designed for users who frequently travel or work remotely. However, in testing, the suite used about 1.3 GB of memory on an 8 GB MacBook M1, which can be significant for users with limited system resources. Compared to Bitdefender Total Security and Norton 360 Advanced, Intego ONE Complete is ranked highest in the best Mac antivirus comparison, particularly for its unified design for macOS. However, it lacks parental controls and a free trial, and its included VPN has not undergone any public audits. For users with multiple Macs, the 3 or 5 device plans are necessary. The suite is ideal for those seeking a single application that combines antivirus, firewall, cleaning, and a VPN, with a monthly cost of 4.22 euros including tax for two years. However, users with existing subscriptions or strong macOS defenses may find the added cost less necessary.
