Prime Video has revealed its programming lineup for the week starting October 5 through October 11, 2026, highlighting two new releases. One of these is a new film directed by Ben Wheatley, titled Normal, which will premiere on October 9. The film is described as a police comedy with thriller and conspiracy elements, following a sheriff named Ulysse as he uncovers a large-scale scheme in his new town. The film features an actor who gained fame through television, and it is noted that fans of Bob Odenkirk’s performances in Fargo and Breaking Bad may find his role in this film particularly appealing. The other new release is a mini-series based on Stephen King’s novel Carrie, set to debut on October 7. This eight-episode series is a fresh adaptation of the cult classic, focusing on the story of a high school student who is mistreated by her peers but discovers strange powers during her adolescence and seeks revenge against those who tormented her. The series is produced by Mike Flanagan, a showrunner known for his work on The Fall of the House of Usher and The Haunting of Hill House, both of which are praised for their suspenseful storytelling and atmospheric tension. Prime Video’s lineup also includes a variety of other shows and films, many of which are returning series or popular titles that have been well-received by audiences. The platform often schedules new content to coincide with holidays or major events, but this week’s focus seems to be on offering fresh narratives that cater to a wide range of viewer interests. The release of Normal and the Carrie series represents a strategic move by Prime Video to attract both casual viewers and fans of genre-specific content. By offering a mix of comedy, thriller, and horror elements, the platform aims to provide a diverse viewing experience that can appeal to different demographics. The choice of these two projects also reflects a broader trend in streaming services to invest in original content that can stand out in a competitive market.
