Apple has unveiled two new models in its Apple Watch line: the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and the Apple Watch Series 12. These devices are aimed at users who rely on their smartwatches for fitness, health monitoring, and outdoor activities. The new models come with several enhanced features, including a "Readiness" app that helps users assess their physical preparedness, "Audio Intelligence" for sound recognition, and an improved "Siri Recap" powered by Shazam. Additionally, a feature called "Live Rewind" will be available later this year, allowing users to review past activities in real-time. Both models also offer more precise step tracking, making them more reliable for users focused on fitness and health. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 stands out with a significant improvement in battery life. It can last up to 50 hours on a single charge, even with the always-on display enabled. This is made possible by the new S11 chip and software enhancements, which also allow for faster charging—just 15 minutes of charging provides up to 18 hours of use. The Ultra 4 also includes a more advanced health monitoring system, measuring heart rate and heart rate variability every five seconds, compared to the previous model, which took measurements every five minutes and every two to four hours, respectively. This improvement supports new features like "Health Age," which estimates a user's biological age based on health data, and "Vital Signs," which provides a more comprehensive overview of a user’s health. Apple claims the Ultra 4 has the most accurate built-in GPS among sport watches, though this feature has not yet been independently tested. The health monitoring system’s accuracy was validated by comparing it to a chest strap heart rate monitor, showing a high correlation coefficient of 0.998, which indicates a very close match in readings. These upgrades make the Ultra 4 appealing for users who prioritize detailed health tracking and precise location data. The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is priced at 899 Euros, and whether it’s worth upgrading from the Ultra 3 depends on the user’s interest in the new health features and advanced GPS. For those who prefer a larger screen and sufficient data tracking for physical activity, the Apple Watch Series 12 might be a more suitable option. Both models reflect Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance the functionality and appeal of its wearable devices for a wide range of users.
