JA Vichy signs Theo Leon

The JA Vichy has signed Theo Leon, a 34-year-old point guard, to strengthen its backcourt line. Leon joins the team after three seasons with Tours in National 1, the second tier of French basketball, following the injury of Elian Benitez, who will be unavailable for several months due to a knee injury requiring surgery.

Coach highlights Leon's value

Élise Prodhomme, the team's coach, stated that Leon's experience, defensive skills, and leadership will be valuable to the team's development. Prodhomme emphasized that Leon's arrival adds depth to Vichy's perimeter rotation, which already includes players like Ray’Sean Taylor, Illan Piétrus, and Théo Pichard.

Leon's basketball background

Born on August 16, 1992, in Chambéry, Leon has played for several French teams, including ASVEL, Fos Provence, Aix-Maurienne, Roanne, Évreux, Quimper, and Tours. Recently, he participated in Aix-Maurienne's preseason as a training partner and has been training with La Ravoire.

Leon's performance with Tours

During the 2025-2026 season with Tours, Leon played 42 league matches, averaging 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.3 steals in 22 minutes. His shooting accuracy was 41.3%, highlighting his role as an organizing point guard focused on creating opportunities for his teammates rather than scoring.
