Marianne Flippo, the widow of Roblox employee Chad Flippo, who died by suicide in 2024, is suing Greggory Blaine Starr, a former "companion" she met after her husband's death, for allegedly scaming her out of $6 million. The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on September 14 and claims that Starr manipulated Flippo during a vulnerable time after her husband’s death and while she was dealing with her own health issues.
Flippo suffers from vascular Ehler-Danlos syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects the body’s connective tissues, including blood vessels and organs. She says she was in a weakened physical and emotional state after her husband’s death and was also under the influence of prescription medications, including an opioid. She met Starr through Cowboys4Angels, an escort service that connects clients with "straight male companions" for various fees. Initially hired to accompany her to Italy, Starr later became her romantic partner.
According to the lawsuit, Flippo was not aware that Cowboys4Angels was an escort service when she first met Starr. After returning from Italy, she began a relationship with him and was persuaded to pay $150,000 for Starr to be exclusively with her for six months. By March 2025, she had paid an additional $368,000 for Starr to continue seeing her through March 2026, and another $90,000 for April and May 2026.
Flippo alleges that Starr later convinced her to sign an "Independent Contractor Agreement" for the months of December 2025 through March 2026, claiming he needed to buy out his existing contracts with Cowboys4Angels for $10 million to be with her exclusively. She says she agreed to this under the influence of painkillers and alcohol. When she attempted to wire the $10 million to Cowboys4Angels' bank account, the transaction was blocked by JPMorgan Chase due to concerns about fraud and coercion. Starr then directed her to use a different bank, but that was also blocked. Eventually, Flippo transferred $5.95 million into a joint account at Charles Schwab under both their names.
Flippo claims Starr later pressured her to deposit an additional $4 million and even hired an attorney to draw up an official agreement. However, Flippo’s own lawyers became suspicious when she mentioned the $10 million she was giving Starr and confronted him. Starr allegedly became visibly angry and threatened to leave her and take her money with him. Flippo is now seeking the return of the $5.95 million, an order to prevent Starr from spending more of her money, and legal fees. Starr, who declined to comment, is currently in Dubai according to his Instagram. Attorney Larry Hutcher, representing Flippo, said that suing Starr is "the only way she'll be able to get her dignity back."
