Costco is ending its partnership with Deschutes Brewery, an Oregon-based company, by discontinuing two Kirkland Signature beers: the Helles-Style Lager and the Vintage Ale. Deschutes announced in July that it was winding down production and that the collaboration with Costco would soon come to an end. The company explained that it had fulfilled its volume commitment and that the program was concluding as a result. The remaining inventory of these beers will vary by store, depending on how quickly each Costco location sells through its stock over the next two to three months. Reports suggest that the beers are already disappearing from shelves, with some customers unable to find them at their local Costco warehouses. One customer mentioned that the beer was no longer available at their store, while another found only 10 to 15 boxes of the Helles-Style Lager remaining. Some customers have reacted to the discontinuation by purchasing multiple cases of the beers before they run out. One shopper said they bought three to four cases when a full pallet was still available, only to see the stock vanish within a week. Another customer noted that their store had stopped carrying the beer a few weeks after the announcement and that they had purchased the last three cases available. The Helles-Style Lager was priced at just over a dollar per can, with 12-packs costing $13.99, while the Vintage Ale sold for $7.99 per bottle. After production ended, some stores reportedly offered the discontinued beers at significantly reduced prices. Neither Deschutes Brewery nor Costco responded to additional requests for comment.
