Airbnb introduced a series of updates on Wednesday, aimed at improving the experience for both travelers and hosts during the autumn season. The updates include a new social feature called Connections, an AI-powered search tool, and new services such as meal delivery and equipment rentals. The changes were announced on September 30 and are designed to make travel planning easier and more personalized. The Connections feature allows users to invite people they have traveled with or know personally—such as friends, family, or colleagues—to connect with their Airbnb account. Invitations can be sent through various platforms like email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, or X, or via a copied link for SMS. Once connected, users can see an interactive map of their connections' travel history, including where they have stayed, the experiences they have booked, and the reviews they have left. Users can also track where their connections are planning to go next and save addresses as favorites or message them directly through the app. The feature is reciprocal, but users can choose which trips to share or keep private. Airbnb suggests potential connections based on shared travel history, and users can block any connections at any time. Airbnb is also integrating artificial intelligence into its search function to streamline the process of finding accommodations. The AI helps users search for listings using their own words and preferences, making it easier to compare options based on what matters most to them. This feature is rolling out in the United States first, though no timeline has been set for France. New services are expected to launch by the end of the year, with a focus on making travel more efficient and less time-consuming. In Europe, two new features are being introduced: grocery delivery, which is now available in France after launching in the U.S. earlier this year, and ski and snowboard rental services in the French Alps through local partners. Hosts are also benefiting from AI-powered tools designed to make managing their listings more efficient. A new multi-listing calendar allows hosts to adjust prices, availability, cancellation policies, or discounts for all or part of their accommodations at once. Interactive 3D plans help travelers visualize the space before booking, while dynamic pricing automatically adjusts nightly rates based on supply and demand within a range set by Airbnb. Hosts can modify these prices at any time. Additionally, AI tools now summarize performance data, identify key factors affecting bookings, and suggest actions to improve listings directly from the host dashboard.
