Haas team's poor performance in US GP

The Haas team left the United States Grand Prix without scoring any points, despite an encouraging start for its two drivers in their home race. Esteban Ocon finished fourteenth after long periods of battling near the top 10, while Oliver Bearman retired following a collision with Pierre Gasly.

Ocon's strong start but lost positions

Ocon started in the middle of the pack and made an excellent start, gaining several positions from the first corners. The Frenchman found himself in a position to aim for points, but failed to maintain his advantage over the laps.

Technical issues hampered Ocon's race

Ocon explained to Canal+ that he gained the most positions at the start, but added that they were not able to keep them. He pointed out recurring problems with front wheel locking and differences in behavior between the parts used on the monoposts. These difficulties were particularly evident during the second stint, when he was in 11th place.

Bearman's attempt to overtake ended in collision

Bearman, on the other hand, seemed to have the pace necessary to finish in the points. After a good restart following a brief virtual safety car, the Brit approached Pierre Gasly before attempting an overtake at turn 13. The maneuver, however, resulted in a light contact between the two monoposts.

Collision caused Bearman's retirement

The collision caused significant aerodynamic damage to his Haas, causing him to lose about a second per lap. The stewards also imposed a 10-second penalty, a decision he considers unjustified. Bearman claims to have used the vibration to try to avoid the contact and states that in his opinion, it was a racing incident.

Haas focuses on positives despite results

Despite this double disappointing result, the main team leader Ayao Komatsu prefers to highlight the progress made by his team. He stated that the result is regrettable, but there are many positive elements to take from this weekend. He particularly highlights the excellent starts of his drivers and Bearman's potential to finish ninth or tenth without his collision.

Team acknowledges performance improvements

Komatsu admits, however, that the front wheel locking problems heavily penalized Ocon during the second half of the race. The team believes it has unlocked performance between Singapore and Austin, two circuits with very different characteristics. Haas now hopes to confirm these progressions at the Mexican Grand Prix, with the goal of transforming its regained competitiveness into championship points.
