Davidovich Fokina wins third-set tie-break

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina defeated Hubert Hurkacz in a tie-break of the third set, and will face Arthur Gea in the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000. The match lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes and ended with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 7-6.

He quickly led 4-1 in the second set, and although Hurkacz had managed to erase his deficit (4-3), he immediately regained his service (5-3), and then won the set on a break point.

Tight third set and tie-break

There was no break in the third set, even though Davidovich Fokina had to save four break opportunities in favor of the Polish player. The two players eventually had to decide the match in a tie-break, where the Spaniard led 6-4. However, he missed his first match point by sending a smash into the net, and the second by falling, which caused him severe pain in his right leg. He was nevertheless able to get up, and at 7-6 in favor of the Spaniard, Hurkacz hit a forehand out of bounds, thus giving the victory to his opponent.
