Features and performance of the JBL Charge 5

The JBL Charge 5 offers transparent, rich sound with excellent clarity, even at high volume, and a wide range of sound reproduction. It has generous battery life, a powerbank function, robust construction with IP67 certification, and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, which allows it to connect to multiple devices at once.

Limitations of the JBL Charge 5

However, the JBL Charge 5 has some drawbacks, including a slight loss of precision in the extreme bass, very directional sound emission, and the absence of wired audio connectivity. It also lacks controls for returning to the previous track, which some users may find inconvenient.

JBL Charge 5 compared to its predecessor

The JBL Charge 5 is considered a clear improvement over the Charge 4, with better musicality and clear sound, even at high volume. It includes a wide sound range, certified robustness, IP67, generous battery life, and the "powerbank" function, making it a strong contender in its category. It also includes Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, despite its minor weaknesses.

Ultimate Ears Boom 4 as an alternative

The Ultimate Ears Boom 4 is another option in the portable speaker market. Continuing with its long-standing line of speakers, the new Boom 4 offers a convincing experience, but could have taken some risks. It has a simple and effective design, intuitive ergonomics, and excellent battery life, though its connectivity options are somewhat limited.
