Airbus aims to boost aircraft deliveries in final quarter

Airbus plans to significantly increase its delivery of commercial aircraft during the last three months of the year to reach a target of around 870 aircraft. This number would surpass the 863 aircraft delivered in 2019, just before the pandemic began.

Lars Wagner expresses confidence in meeting targets

During the Commercial Aircraft Media Briefing in Toulouse, Lars Wagner, chief executive of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to meet its commitments. He emphasized the company’s readiness to fulfill its delivery goals for the year.

Delivery challenge in final quarter

Airbus has already delivered 547 aircraft in the first nine months of the year and must deliver around 323 aircraft by December 31 to meet its annual target. This would require an average of nearly 108 aircraft per month during the last quarter, a significant increase from the busiest month so far, June, which saw 89 deliveries.

Expecting record deliveries in final months

The challenge is even greater because the acceleration should not rely solely on December, which traditionally sees a strong peak in activity. Airbus expects record delivery levels for October, November, and December, particularly for the A320neo, A220, and A350 families of aircraft.

Wagner assures no supply chain issues

When asked about potential disruptions to deliveries, Wagner was reassuring, stating that all the aircraft needed for the year are already on final assembly lines. He does not expect supply chain problems to affect the delivery schedule.

Emphasis on supplier responsiveness

While Wagner acknowledges the need for suppliers to respond quickly to any issues during the final assembly process, he confirms that the necessary capacities have been verified. He believes everything is in place for Airbus to achieve its delivery goals.
