Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2, a board game-style RPG sequel, will launch in 2027 on Switch, Switch 2, and PC with new features and multiplayer options.
New game in the Dokapon series announced
Idea Factory International and Compile Heart, with development by Sting, have announced Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2, a direct sequel to Dokapon Kingdom: Connect. The role-playing game, styled as a board game, is set to release in summer 2027 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with a simultaneous global launch.Gameplay based on board game mechanics
The game retains the core concept of the series, where players navigate map-like boards, defeat monsters, save cities, and earn money. Winning requires not only accumulating wealth but also outmaneuvering rivals by stealing their items, money, and even cities.Movement and events on the board
Movement is determined by spinning a roulette before reaching a destination. Each square on the board triggers an event, such as visiting villages, entering shops, or encountering monsters. When two players land on the same square, they engage in a duel, with only one emerging victorious.Combat system with strategic choices
Combat involves selecting from commands like Attack, Defense, Strike, and Magic each turn. Each choice has specific strengths and weaknesses, and the right decision can lead to a decisive victory. However, the system also involves bluffing, as players must guess their opponent's move to gain an advantage.New features in the sequel
Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 introduces more character customization options, allowing players to create unique heroes with various hairstyles, eye and mouth shapes, and even intentionally strange faces. Players can save preferred designs for future use.Cooperative combat and new modes
The game adds cooperative combat against Giga Monsters, a first for the series. Players unite to defeat powerful enemies and share rewards, which can be split or claimed entirely by one player. A new mode allows all players to start at a high level with powerful equipment.Multiplayer and language options
The game supports up to four players, with online and local multiplayer options. Voice acting will be available in English and Japanese, while text will be in English, Japanese, Thai, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. The game is categorized as a board game-style RPG.Distribution and release details
The digital version will be available on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Steam, though physical editions are yet to be confirmed. Publishers will share more details on physical and digital releases later. An announcement trailer is already available for players to preview the game.
