Catherine Zeta-Jones has received praise from fans for using her natural Welsh accent in the upcoming thriller series Kill Jackie, which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on 2 October. The 56-year-old actor returned to her hometown of Swansea, where some of the filming took place. A trailer released on social media offers viewers their first look at the show, as well as a short clip of Zeta-Jones speaking in her Swansea accent. The series is based on the novel The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway, which was published under his pseudonym Aidan Truhen. Filming locations included Bilbao, Lisbon, and London, giving the show a global feel. In Kill Jackie, Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, an extravagant jet-setter trying to remain anonymous after escaping a "dangerous past as an international cocaine dealer," according to Amazon Prime. The character's journey is expected to explore themes of empowerment, identity, and redemption. One fan commented on an Instagram post of the trailer, saying, "her Welsh is out and I love it, can't wait." Zeta-Jones has previously spoken about her deep connection to Wales, stating she "never really left," despite her international career. Zeta-Jones has played a variety of memorable roles, including Morticia Addams in Netflix's Wednesday and an Oscar-winning supporting role in Chicago. Kill Jackie will be her first major role in which she uses her Welsh accent, marking a new chapter in her acting career. She has expressed excitement about the opportunity to explore a female-driven plot that delves into complex themes. Joining Zeta-Jones in the series are Damon Thomas, known for his role in Killing Eve, and Tom Butterworth, who previously worked on Gangs Of London and is now serving as the writer and showrunner for Kill Jackie. The combination of strong performances and a compelling storyline has generated anticipation among viewers looking forward to the premiere.
