Razer, a well-known manufacturer of computer peripherals and electronics, has unveiled an upgraded version of its popular Kiyo V2 webcam, called the Kiyo V2 Pro. Priced at $300, this new webcam is designed to deliver sharper and clearer video for users participating in virtual meetings, livestreaming, and other video-related tasks. The device features 4K video capture at 60 frames per second, which Razer says will minimize motion blur and enhance overall video quality during high-motion activities.
At the heart of the Kiyo V2 Pro is Sony’s 8.3-megapixel STARVIS 2 sensor, a component also found in Elgato’s latest 4K webcam. This sensor is known for its high sensitivity and ability to perform well in low-light conditions. The webcam also includes a lens with an f/1.9 aperture, which allows more light to enter the camera, improving visibility in dimly lit environments and enhancing the bokeh effect — the soft blur of background elements that helps focus attention on the subject.
The Kiyo V2 Pro incorporates AI-powered features to simplify and enhance the user experience. These include auto-framing, which automatically adjusts the camera’s position to keep the user centered in the frame, and one-click output enhancement, which automatically optimizes exposure, white balance, and noise reduction based on the surrounding environment. Additionally, the webcam supports ultra-high dynamic range (HDR), allowing it to capture more detail in both bright and dark areas of the scene, regardless of lighting conditions.
To maintain high image quality at 4K resolution, the field of view has been slightly reduced from 93 degrees on the original Kiyo V2 to 86 degrees, which also helps reduce the fisheye-like distortion at the edges of the frame. The webcam is compatible with Razer Synapse, a software platform that allows users to fine-tune settings such as ISO and shutter speed. It also includes a clamp for attaching to monitors or laptops, a universal mount for tripod use, and an integrated privacy shutter that physically covers the lens when not in use. The Kiyo V2 Pro is now available for purchase on Razer’s website and other retailers.
