Google has launched the Pixel 11 Pro XL, a new flagship smartphone that brings only modest upgrades over the previous model, the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The device features a new all-glass camera bump, an LED light replacing the temperature sensor, and new color options, including a matte black variant called Obsidian. Inside, it uses Google’s latest Tensor G6 processor, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. However, the base model’s RAM has been reduced from 16GB to 12GB, while higher storage versions include 16GB of RAM. The starting price for the 256GB + 12GB RAM model is $1,299 / £1,279 / AU$2,099, which is $100 / £80 / AU$150 more than the previous year’s equivalent model. The Pixel 11 Pro XL comes with a 6.8-inch Super Actua display, offering a resolution of 1344 x 2992 and a 120Hz refresh rate, which provides smooth and vivid visuals. The display’s peak brightness has been increased to 3,600 nits, up from 3,300 nits on the previous model. Additionally, the phone includes a new scratch-resistant coating on the display glass, enhancing its durability. Running on Android 17, the Pixel 11 Pro XL introduces several new features, including the Gemini AI assistant, HiLight (a new notification light), and Rambler (a voice dictation tool). However, some features like Proactive Assistance have not been clearly demonstrated, and HiLight is limited to specific use cases. The camera system consists of a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. A new Magic Capture mode allows for automatic high-quality stills while recording video, though the 120x Pro Zoom feature has been noted for inconsistent AI rendering. The phone is equipped with a 5,115mAh battery, supporting 45W wired charging and 25W wireless charging. A new Extreme Charging Mode can charge the device from 0-100% in approximately 1 hour and 3 minutes. The Pixel 11 Pro XL is available in four colors: Canyon, Olive, Fog, and Obsidian. It shares nearly identical hardware and software features with the Pixel 11 Pro, with the main differences being the larger size, battery, and display of the XL variant. The new Pixel 11 lineup’s pricing strategy aligns with industry trends, with Google’s prices matching those of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,149.
