French pair upsets defending champions

Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti, a French doubles team seeded number 8 at the Shanghai Masters 1000, defeated Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, the defending champions, in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-4, 6-4.

German champions had recent success

The German pair had won the Shanghai Masters in 2025 and also won the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo in April of last year.

French duo's strong performance this year

Arribagé and Olivetti, who have already secured five titles in 2026 in Auckland, Montpellier, Dallas, Halle, and Majorque, had also reached the final of the ATP 500 in Tokyo last week.

Victory boosts ATP Finals position

Their victory in Shanghai has moved them up to seventh place in the ATP Finals Race, from eighth before the match.

Elimination helps French pair's chances

The elimination of Krawietz and Pütz, along with other direct competitors, has strengthened Arribagé and Olivetti's position in the race for the ATP Finals in Turin, which will take place from November 15 to 22.

French pair advances to semifinals

The French pair will now face the winners of the match between Francisco Cabral and JJ Tracy against Robert Galloway and André Göransson in the semifinals.

Semifinal win would secure points

A victory in the semifinals would secure them at least 600 points from Shanghai and further enhance their chances of qualifying for Turin, where the eight best-ranked teams will compete.
