Stephen Hendry, one of the most successful snooker players in history, has given advice to young British talent Stan Moody, encouraging him to remain calm and composed when facing different playing styles. Moody, who recently turned 20, is currently ranked 39th in the world and has shown promise with a notable quarter-final run at the recent British Open. There, he defeated Chinese player Zhang Anda in a deciding frame and narrowly beat four-time world champion John Higgins 4-2 in the last 16. However, Moody was defeated 5-2 by Liam Highfield in the last eight, and Hendry observed that Moody’s attitude during the match was a concern. Hendry praised Moody’s confidence and personality but emphasized the need for him to adjust his mindset when faced with challenges. He noted that Moody’s body language during the match against Highfield was not ideal, possibly due to the faster pace of Highfield’s play. Hendry reflected on his own early days as a professional, when he struggled with similar frustrations, especially when playing against older players with different styles of play. In addition to Moody, Hendry has also taken notice of another rising British talent, 20-year-old Liam Davies. Davies has had an impressive season, defeating notable players such as Ding Junhui, Gary Wilson, world champion Wu Yize, and Barry Hawkins. He reached the quarter-finals of the English Open and impressed Hendry with a 4-1 victory over Hawkins at the British Open. Hendry highlighted Davies’ mature demeanor and strong cue ball control, which stood out during the match. Davies is set to compete in the Northern Ireland Open qualifiers against Fan Zhengyi and will later face Anthony McGill in the International Championship. Moody, meanwhile, is scheduled to compete in the Northern Ireland Open qualifiers against Yao Pengcheng and will face women’s world champion Panchaya Channoi in the International Championship. Both players are part of a new generation of British snooker talent, and Hendry’s guidance may help them navigate the challenges of professional competition.
