Jorge Masvidal, a well-known fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov. The fight, which could be for the UFC middleweight title, has not yet been officially confirmed, but there are rumors it could happen at UFC 335 in December in Las Vegas. If the match takes place, Masvidal, who has been involved in many high-profile fights in the UFC over the years, believes he can predict how the rematch might go. During an appearance on the podcast Deep Waters, Masvidal discussed the potential second meeting between Strickland and Imavov. "This fight excites me, it's a great matchup. I like Imavov. He's a sniper. He's really, really technical. You can see from the way he fights that he always has several moves ahead," Masvidal said. He contrasted Imavov's strategic approach with Strickland's aggressive style, noting that Strickland tends to push forward under pressure. Masvidal believes the rematch will be a tough and exciting battle. "I think this will be an incredible fight. That said, Imavov hasn't fought in a while... He also has a style that is adapted to handle the pressure imposed by Strickland. However, I'm betting on Strickland," he said. Masvidal acknowledged that Strickland will face a difficult challenge due to Imavov's speed, athleticism, timing, and ability to manage distance in the ring. This potential rematch is notable because it is a follow-up to a previous bout in January 2023, when Strickland accepted the fight on short notice in the light heavyweight division. Strickland won that match by unanimous decision. Now, nearly four years later, the two fighters are set to meet again, this time in the middleweight division, with Strickland defending his title. As Masvidal said, the fight should be an absolutely exceptional contest between two of the top middleweights in the world. While Strickland is expected to be the favorite, Imavov has the skills to potentially pull off an upset.
