Ugreen has introduced a new product, the Magic E Ink Screen Case, specifically designed for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This case is unique because it includes a built-in E Ink screen, which is the same kind of display found in e-readers like the Kindle. However, unlike traditional e-readers, the Ugreen case is not intended for reading books or long texts. Instead, it focuses on displaying photos. The company has not yet revealed the price or when the product will be available for purchase. The Magic E Ink Screen Case functions as a protective case while also allowing users to sync and view photos on the E Ink screen. This could be useful for viewing images without using the iPhone’s main screen, potentially saving battery life. However, the product’s capabilities are somewhat limited compared to dedicated e-paper devices. E Ink screens are known for their readability in bright light and low power consumption, but they are not ideal for displaying color or detailed images. E-paper technology is generally better suited for reading text than for viewing images or videos. For instance, the Xteink X4 Pro, which attaches to the back of an iPhone, allows users to read e-books on a more comfortable, eye-friendly display. While it lacks color and may not be great for photos, it is more effective for reading than the Ugreen case. Similarly, other E Ink accessories like the VidaBay fridge magnets struggle to display images clearly, often resulting in muted or poor-quality visuals. Despite these limitations, the Ugreen Magic E Ink Screen Case could still find an audience if it offers a good balance between functionality and price. However, the product is currently only announced for the Chinese market, and there is no official word on when or where it will be available elsewhere. Until the price and availability are confirmed, it remains uncertain whether this case will be a practical addition to the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
