A multi-vehicle collision in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges has resulted in one death and several injuries, with a bus involved in the crash carrying 18 people. The incident occurred on Melba Highway near Glenburn around 2:40 pm, when emergency services were called to a three-vehicle crash involving a commercial bus. According to police, the driver of one of the cars died at the scene, while the driver and passenger of the other car sustained minor injuries. The bus, which was part of a scheduled service from Mansfield to Melbourne, had departed at 1:00 pm. Emergency responders assessed 21 patients at the scene, with several individuals from the bus being transported to the hospital for further treatment. Among those taken to the hospital, a teenage boy was airlifted in serious condition, while a man in his 50s was also admitted with serious injuries. Two teenagers, a boy and a girl, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Mee’s Bus Lines, the operator of the bus, described the incident as “pretty devastating” and expressed that the company was “considerably upset” by the event. The company stated it had limited information about the crash and was cooperating with authorities as they investigated the cause. The bus was on a regular route, and the company is assisting in the ongoing inquiry into what led to the collision. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the crash, which has raised concerns about road safety in the area. The incident underscores the risks associated with multi-vehicle accidents, particularly when commercial vehicles are involved. Emergency services and local authorities are continuing to manage the aftermath, providing support to those affected.
