Manchester United will face Sabah in a Champions League group stage match at Old Trafford on Thursday, 10 September, with the game kicking off at 8pm British Summer Time (BST). The match will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate, with a live stream also available on HBO Max. Coverage will begin at 7pm BST, giving fans an hour of pre-match analysis and updates. Manchester United have struggled in their early fixtures this season under manager Michael Carrick. After losing to Hull City and coming from behind to draw with Everton, Carrick is looking for a strong performance in the Champions League. A last-minute goal from Ainsley Maitland-Niles at Everton left the team frustrated, and the manager is eager to bounce back in European competition. This match marks United’s return to the Champions League after they narrowly missed out on the Europa League final to Tottenham last season. Sabah, the Azerbaijani champions, are making their debut in the Champions League. The club, founded just eight years ago, has shown promise with a dominant 5-0 win over Zira, where Rwanda international Joy-Lance Mickels scored a hat-trick. Serbian striker Veljko Simic is expected to start for Sabah, adding experience to their young squad. Despite being a new entrant to the competition, Sabah is entering with confidence and a strong performance in domestic matches. Manchester United are dealing with several injury concerns ahead of the match. Key players like Matthijs De Ligt, Amad Diallo, Manuel Ugarte, Tom Heaton, and Carlos Baleba are all out due to injuries. Marcus Rashford, who suffered a knock in the Everton game, is also doubtful. Carrick mentioned Rashford was "feeling a bit of something," but his availability remains uncertain. United have a 25-man A-List squad, with a B-List featuring players like Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro. Predicted line-ups for Manchester United include goalkeeper Joel Lammens, with defenders Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Luke Shaw. In midfield, Fred and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to start, with attackers like Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford ahead of them. Jesse Lingard is named as the striker. For Sabah, goalkeeper Yelizaveta Pokatilov is expected to start, with defenders including Ruslan Isayev and Dzmitry Dashdamirov. Midfielders like Eldar Rakhmonaliyev and Nikola Lepinjica are set to play, with striker Veljko Simic leading the attack.
