Levallois Historical Novel Fair rescheduled

The 15th edition of the Levallois Historical Novel Fair has been moved from June 2026 to November 14 and 15, 2026, due to a heatwave that led to an indefinite postponement in early June.

New venue and organizer

The event will now take place at the City Hall of Levallois, replacing the initially planned venue, Planchette Park. The fair is organized by the City of Levallois with support from several cultural institutions and regional authorities.

Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre to preside

Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre, winner of the Renaudot Prize in 2025, will preside over the fair and open it with a major interview around her novel Je voulais vivre (Grasset).

Participants and programming

The programming largely follows the original plan, with notable participants including Noëlle Châtelet, Tobie Nathan, and others. A tribute to André Malraux will mark the 50th anniversary of his death.

Changes in the lineup

Yasmina Khadra, who was initially announced for a major interview, is no longer listed in the October communiqué, along with several other planned activities. Noëlle Châtelet will participate in a major interview on Sunday, November 15, around her work À l'école des filles (Robert Laffont).

Event format and locations

The fair will take place in several spaces within the City Hall, including the Forum in the Ronsard Hall and the History Studio in the Marriage Hall. Workshops will complement the meetings with various authors and historians.

Other literary events in 2026

Other events include the Festival d'Angoulême 2027, where legal issues arose over the designation of a new festival organizer, and Toulouse Polars du Sud, which attracted 15,000 visitors focusing on war in noir fiction.

Additional events and themes

At Saint-Malo, the 45th edition of Quai des Bulles highlighted three generations of comics, including the 80th anniversary of Lucky Luke. The Violeta Negra prize selected five novels from Italy, Spain, Greece, and Israel for its 2026 edition.

More events and themes

The Nights of Reading 2027 will focus on "Childhood," while the festival Together in Bookstore! will feature over 70 independent bookstores in Occitania. The Magazine Fair 2026 will host more than 200 exhibitors, and Babelica 2026 will feature 30 young authors from around the world.

Final events and cancellations

The Étrange Grande festival was canceled due to controversy around an author, and the Museum of the Cat by Philippe Geluck will reopen in Brussels in early 2028. Other events include the European Authors' Day and the opening of a new comics gallery in Paris.
