Kristaps Porzingis has not joined the Golden State Warriors in Hawaii for their training camp due to an undisclosed medical issue. Coach Steve Kerr said on Saturday that he had no new information about Porzingis' condition, according to journalist Joseph Dycus of Mercury News. Kerr said Porzingis would return "when he's ready," a phrase the former Team USA coach has used before. He also noted that the former Atlanta Hawks player would resume training when he is ready, but no specific return date was given. Porzingis had previously said he no longer experienced symptoms of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a condition that affected him during the previous two seasons. This assurance of recovery led the Warriors to offer him a two-year contract extension worth $40 million this summer. However, the team's medical staff has not speculated on how long his recovery might take. Golden State's general manager, Mike Dunleavy, said Porzingis would be absent for an indefinite period due to a health issue and would miss the start of training camp. He did not provide a planned return date or additional details about the issue. Despite this, Dunleavy suggested that Porzingis should not miss the start of the regular season with the Warriors. In Porzingis' absence, Steve Kerr will need to reorganize the team's interior rotations. For the first preseason game against the Clippers, Kerr plans to use Al Horford and Draymond Green in the frontcourt. On the perimeter, Stephen Curry will lead the way alongside Brandin Podziemski and Yaxel Lendeborg, the Puerto Rican rookie, on the wings. This will be an opportunity to see how the Warriors will organize themselves without their 2.18-meter pivot.
