Sylvester Stallone, the actor and director known for creating the Rocky film series, has recently spoken about his desire to revisit Rocky V, the 1990 film that he now considers a failure. Stallone has described the movie as "a thorn in his soul" and has approached Amazon, which owns the rights to the film, asking for permission to re-edit it. He has requested three weeks to redo the editing process, though no official response has been confirmed yet. In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Stallone called Rocky V "bad, a zero" and said it was one of the reasons he wanted to make Rocky Balboa, the 2006 sequel, to give the franchise a more positive ending. Stallone has also mentioned that he wants to change the music by Bill Conti, the composer for most of the Rocky films. He believes that certain compositions could be reintroduced to better align Rocky V with the musical style of earlier films in the series. This is not the first time Stallone has revisited a Rocky film. In 2022, he re-edited Rocky IV, releasing a revised version titled Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago. The updated film received a better reception, with viewers on AlloCiné giving it an average rating of 4 out of 5, compared to the original's 3.3 out of 5. Stallone is also currently working on a biopic, directed by Peter Farrelly and produced by Anthony Ippolito. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters for Christmas on December 23, 2026. Details about the subject of the biopic have not been fully disclosed, but it is expected to be another high-profile project from the actor.
