Blandine L’hirondel runs for Lola

Blandine L’hirondel is participating in the Grand Raid de la Réunion on the Mascareignes, a challenging trail race that covers 70 kilometers with an elevation gain of 3,800 meters. The event started at 11:00 PM on Thursday, October 15.

L’hirondel’s motivation

L’hirondel is not competing to win the race but to honor Lola, the daughter of a couple of friends who passed on to her the passion for trail running. Lola had a deep love for the sport and inspired many with her enthusiasm.

Lola’s passing

Lola tragically passed away at the age of 23. Her death left a lasting impact on those who knew her, and L’hirondel is running in her memory to keep her spirit alive.

Injury and determination

On Friday morning, a few hours after the start, L’hirondel appeared with her arm in a sling but remained determined to continue. Despite the injury, she is committed to finishing the race in honor of Lola.
